August 31, 2008

At 2010 hours, the rescue squad was alerted for a water rescue assignment at 6202 Walton Ave.  The rescue squad arrived on scene and assisted with the investigation.  The rescue squad went  in-service at 2246 hours.

August 29, 2008

At 1956 hours, the engine and rescue squad were alerted for a house fire at 3210 Steed Road (32's first due).  Units arrived on scene with fire showing.  The rescue squad arrived on scene and conducted a secondary search.  The engine and rescue squad went in-service at 2103 hours.

August 27, 2008

At 1130 hours, the rescue squad was alerted for a house fire at 6701 Farmer Drive (32's area).  The rescue squad arrived on scene along with engine 21 with heavy smoke showing.  The rescue squad crew conducted a primary and secondary search.  Then assisted engine 21 with extinguishing the basement fire.  The rescue squad went in-service at 1430 hours.

August 23, 2008

At 0253 hours, the engine was alerted for a house fire at 7108 Shield Court (25's first due).  Engine 25 arrived on scene with smoke showing.  The engine went in-service at 0307 hours.

August 15, 2008

At 0556 hours, the rescue squad was alerted for a house fire at 6209 St. Barnabas Road (21's first due).  The rescue squad arrived on scene and assumed the RIC duties.  The rescue squad went in-service at 0627 hours.

August 14, 2008

At 1647 hours, the rescue squad was alerted for a shed fire at 9347 D'ary Road (23 first due).  Units arrived on scene with fire showing.  The rescue squad went in-service at 1751 hours.

August 13, 2008

At 0834 hours, while clearing a transfer from company 25.  The rescue squad was alerted for a house fire at 13303 Reid Lane.  The rescue squad arrived on scene and assumed RIC.  The rescue squad went in-service at 0922 hours.

August 13, 2008

At 0030 hours, the rescue squad was alerted for vehicle accident at St. Barnabas Road and Oxon Hill Road for one trapped.  The rescue squad arrived on scene extricated the patient by removing the passenger side door.

Crew: (D/O) Lt. Hunt, (O) Lt. Gale, Firefighter Purdy, and Firefighter Martin.

August 12, 2008

At 1431 hours, the rescue squad was alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment under the vehicle.  The rescue squad arrived on scene, stabilized the vehicle and extricated one.

August 8, 2008

At 2358 hours, the rescue squad was alerted for a vehicle accident in the area of 8600 Penn. Ave.  Units arrived on scene with one trapped.  The rescue squad removed the driver side door to free the patient.  The rescue squad went in-service at 0058 hours.

August 4, 2008

At 2240 hours, the rescue squad was alerted for a house fire at 12816 Piscataway Landing Road.  The rescue squad arrived on scene assumed RIT.  The rescue squad went in-service at 2322 hours.

 

August 2, 2008

At 1805 hours, the engine was alerted for heavy black smoke in the area of Auth Road and the Beltway.  After further investigation, the engine arrived on scene of a shed fire at 5114 Barto Ave.  The engine went in-service at 1845 hours.

The members of Morningside will be joining other companies with the county softball tournament.

The National Night Out is Tuesday, August 5, 2008....

The Morningside Fire Department joins in with The Town of Morningside and Skyline Citizens Association for the National Night...

Squad 827 was on display for the children to tour and the crew conducted a Fire Prevention Talk and Presentation for the community.

Both communities had a great turnout.

 

August 1, 2008

At 0016 hours, the engine, rescue squad, and ambo respond to 6717 Pine Grove Drive for a reported house fire.  The units arrived on scene with nothing showing.  Under the command of Lt. Gale, the engine located a room off on side Charlie of the cape cod.  The rescue squad under direction of Capt. Johnson, conducted a primary, secondary search, ventilated, and checked for extension.  The Ambo crew set up the aide station on side Alpha.  The units went in-service at 0150 hours.

Engine Crew:  (D/O) Lt. Hunt, (O) Lt. Gale, Firefighter Johnson (T2), Firefighter Martin, and Firefighter Dawkins.

Squad Crew:  (D/O) Firefighter Leonard, (O) Capt. Johnson, Lt. Sudjapun, Firefighter Jones, and Firefighter Shayne.

Ambo Crew:  (D/O) EMT Tannahill and EMT Miller.

 

 

The Morningside Volunteer Fire Department supports The National Burn Camp. 

The week of August  7 to August 15, Firefighter John Lyon is a huge supporter of the Camp as he participates as a counselor every year.

Good Job John as you represent yourself and the department for such a worthy cause.
